From Condorcet’s portraits produced in his lifetime (before 1794), generally naturalistic ones, drawn ‘d’après nature’ [from nature] and their several reinterpretations, often standardized, produced in immediately subsequent epochs…, to his modern or contemporary representations, frequently more free and lyrical, sometimes caricatured, which ones will better render us the image of the great enlightenment philosopher?
